La Reloba Habano

DBCcigar's Avatar

A little history:

The La Reloba is one of Pepin’s newest creations; made in the My Father factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.  This cigar comes in two wrappers: Habano and Sumatra.

Country of Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper:
Nicaraguan Habano
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Shape: Robusto
Size: 5 X 50
Draw: Perfect
Burn:
Excellent (Solid ash)
Construction: Superb

The first 1/3 of this cigar had a nice wood taste with a little spice.

The second 1/3 was still woody with a little more spice.

The last 1/3 had strong hints of wood with spice, and some charred wood.

Overall, this is a very good medium-bodied cigar from the start to finish.  The flavors remained pretty much the same throughout but slowly grew with intensity.

I definitely recommend this cigar.

Mi Dominicana

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A little history:

Mi Dominicana is a Dominican puro masterfully blended by Jose Seijas in the Dominican Republic.  He is the company’s mater blender and is the mastermind behind the popular Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, H. Upmann, and Trinidad brands, just to name a few.  This is Altadis U.S.A.’s first Dominican puro.

Country of Origin: Dominican Republic
Wrapper:
Dominican
Binder: Dominican
Filler: Dominican
Shape: Corona
Size: 5 1/2 X 44
Draw: Perfect
Burn:
Decent (Had to relight a few times)
Construction: Good (Wrapper had a few veins)

The first 1/3 of this cigar had a hint of walnut and oak.

The second 1/3 was a little nutty with some spice.

The last 1/3 had hints of black coffee, spice, and charred wood.

Overall, this was a decent medium-bodied cigar.  Not too bad, but not my cup of tea.  The ash was not as solid as I like and I had to relight it about four times.

Liga Privada “Dirty Rat” by Drew Estate

Drew Estate Cigars : The Rebirth of Cigars

A little history:

The Liga Privada cigars came about as a personal blend for Drew Estate’s president, Steve Saka.  The man has great taste!

The difference in the Liga Privada “Dirty Rat” and the regular Liga Privada No. 9 line is that 7 different tobaccos are used in making one “Dirty Rat”; only 5 are used in the No. 9.

Nobody knows if Drew Estate will indeed release these, due to the amount of tobacco used to create this cigar, the cost, the labor that goes into it, and the time involved.

Time will tell….
